Training for my Walk for Water

Getting ready .... Training for my Walk for Water. I began training for the Camino about forty five days ago so with a September 3rd start date I am a bit behind schedule. The first goal is to break in my new "Limo's". That also means getting the "Passengers" ready and strapping on my backpack with about twenty pounds of weight. I first started with fifteen pounds over the last two weeks increased the weight to the twenty pounds I expect to have with me on The Camino.

My training goal is to get to a minimum of fifty miles per week. I am currently at a level of about a thirty mile average per week so I have made progress. The last two weeks have been difficult but I know I am making progress because my recovery time is good. I put in back to back ten milers at the warmest time of day and when I finished the second day I was really worn out and very sore from head to toe but the next morning I was fine. For those of you who read the my first Camino blog you may be interested to know that walking near the beach in Capistrano with a backpack has not changed .... I'm still looked at like I'm a homeless guy or just weird. People continue to avoid eye contact and just pretend that I am invisible. I have considered putting a cardboard sign on my backpack which says "Will walk for Water" but that may just add to the weirdo factor.

Although I am training on the very same route as I did on my first Camino I have not seen the blind guy. I keep hoping that I will see him before I go and if I do I will stop and talk with him this time. I will continue to keep a training update my Walk for Water but it will be far less frequent than my anticipated daily post while I am on The Camino. Get out there and go for a walk .... Perhaps we will run into each other. I'll be the weirdo looking homeless guy! Don't forget to take a look at my Walk for Water site and if you or someone you know can help ... Thank you. www.firstgiving.com/fundraiser/caminowater/camino-jimmy
